"Remember to Remember"

Malayas Bistro @ CapSquare, Kuala Lumpur

Remember that we mentioned about how much we adore stepping into restaurants that are 'old'?
Well, not exactly 'old' in terms of it being there for quite sometime but also goes to those with the retro essence. Going back in time is a very good idea for a restaurant.
Reminiscence......

Malayas Bistro

Malayas Bistro nestled at Capsquare is a hidden gem that brought out the flavours of Malaya (Malaysia). Dining at this restaurant reminded me of "1957: Hati Malaya", a movie that flashback the days for the tough route towards independence and how the founding fathers sacrified to free us from colonialism. I believe you would feel that way too. Wipe out the boring topics that we just memorized hard by words just to pass the history test and indulge in this atmosphere and the heritage they are trying to preserve taking you to old Malaya.

Warm interior of exclusive teak wood furnitures that was inspired by the Old Malaya tea houses, a few portraits that depicts story of independence and a great highlight when the night draws near: LIVE BAND everyday at 8pm that churns out light and soft relaxing jazz.

Here's the lip-smackers:

Golden Fried Lotus Root - RM4.50
Stir fried fragrantly with butter, the crunchy lotus root is a great snack, I thought

IMG_9474

Vegetables Pakora - RM4.50
The Malaya crispy 'tempura' :)

IMG_9462

Grilled Chicken Wings - RM6.30
Great finger food to go with your drinks. Esp when u ordered beer.

IMG_9476

Calamari Rings - RM5.40
Fresh calamaris coated with batter and deep fried. Another great snack.

IMG_9461

Golden Fried Ikan Pari - RM5.40
Coated with curry powder and deep fried perfectly

IMG_9482

Seasoned Minced Lamb Fried Bites - RM4.50
A new type of samosa to us as it's filled with lamb.

IMG_9486

Asparagus with Oyster Sauce - RM4.50
I'm the odd one, as I like the sauce most. haha

IMG_9458

Masalla Mutton - RM7.20
The meat texture was great but a wee bit salty to eat just by itself. Maybe it should go with a white rice.

IMG_9466

Char Kway Teow - RM6.30
Somehow, Chris and I still prefers Char Kway Teow ala Penang style with less dark soy sauce and more chili. Some said it's a tad salty but I still it's alright as I've 'heavy' tastebuds.

IMG_9479

Classic Mamak Fried Noodles - RM6.30
Tasty Malaysian famous mamak's signature!

IMG_9465

Chinese Fragrant Fried Rice - RM6.30

IMG_9492

Nasi Goreng Kampung with Petai - RM6.30
Not a big fan of Petai, but i still adore it's aroma :)

IMG_9472

Fried Mee Sua - RM6.30
I dislike meehoon. Weird huh? But loves mee sua to the max! and this fried mee sua was dished out decently. It's so "mine"!

IMG_9497

Confinement Ginger Chicken
Soothing and brimmed with chicken essence that warmed us up. Perfect for the cold rainy season now. Not only confinement. hehe.

IMG_9493

Desserts - a sweet ending before we 'burp-ed silently' to the fullest.
Pisang Gula Hangus - RM3.80

IMG_9507

Sago Lapis Kelapa - RM3.80
