We were bored one Saturday and decided to hang out for food. Somewhere not really regular to us. Somewhere populared.

Fishy thoughts crossed our minds and headed for Chan Sow Lin.

Arrived at a hutlike stall full of patrons. Each and everyone seemed satisfied with their dishes and every table has the familiar order.

No one was petered out by its small and disregarded exterior. Customers here were willing to wait for their turn to be seated. And lining up was unavoidable during our visit. Another catchy service they offered is; sauna. A joke made by customers with the boss as honestly, the environment  is hot. However, as I mentioned earlier, patrons do not mind at all despite some flaws in areas of surroundings with this stall.

What's their call?

Steamed Fish.

Chong Yen has made up a towering achievement when it comes to running a business for years, even generations, and loyal customers will know where to go when the cravings for some steamed proteins drops by. Choose to steam your fish with either ginger with fermented bean paste. But these two options are most probably secured by every table.

Steamed Fish with Ginger. I heart this share most. You could enjoy this smooth portion better when tasted with the minced ginger and the tasty sauce showered on it.

Needed a tangier flavour? Order the Steamed Fish with fermented Bean Paste. This goes well with the rice. Tangy sauce with spiciness that'll make you sweat extra apart from the hot environment in this eatery.

The man in charge. This is the chef behind the recipe. This is the boss who manage to capture his loyal fans appetite and get new customers returning.

Tetra House of Briyani @ Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang

Tetra House of Briyani is one of my dad's favourite. Thanks to him for driving us the extra miles to this hidden treasure in Klang, we have a new hang out place if we ever wanna top up our dose of lassis and briyani.

It's very comforting to be seated in an eatery decorated with a mixture of refinement. What I am referring to was the Chinese paintings hung on walls and Indian culture carvings and other decos. It's not poshy but you'll find this place restful.

It has become a habit for us when it comes of ordering in Tetra, as if we don't need a menu to fuss on what to eat this time. Briyani and Lassi .fullstop.

Day 1: Hello Ipoh!

We combated the traffic during Raya eve and drove up north heading for Ipoh.Yes. We followed Citygal balik kampung and she welcomed us with pleasure.

To make things better, we were rewarded with the food crawl itenerary, courtesy of KampungBoy & CityGal.

3 Days, 2 Nights, 5 hungry souls. Ipoh shattered my diet plan. But I do not mind :)

Jom Makan Ipoh!

Due to the public holiday period, almost every eateries we went, WAITING was our part time job.

#1 Nam Heong - Old Town White Coffee.

In Ipoh, you could consider forgetting the Old Town franchicise and head for the REAL thing.

How could we miss the Old Town White Coffee.

Produced with only margarine and without any sugar, resulting in a roast that is less dark. For this reason the term "white" coffee is used widely.

Pastries that kept us humming "yummm". Chris and I adore the egg tarts. Generous hot egg custard fillings and crispy puff pastry. The Yam Dumpling (Wu Kok) and Barbecued Pork Pastry (Char Siew Sou) are some of the must-trys from Nam Heong too.

Nagomi Shabu Shabu @ Menara Hap Seng

Swish-Swish. It is now an easy-peasy cooking chore

What I meant to say was Shabu Shabu. To be even precise; it's Nagomi Shabu Shabu & Sushi Bar.

In appreciation of the lucky draw sessions organized during the floggers' nite at Kin Shui Tei, we get to enjoy a set of shabu shabu treats at their sister company; Nagomi.

A shabu shabu outlet relatively different from the ones we have been to, this is a Japanese restaurant that serves authentic Japanese cuisine, with its main focus on shabu shabu, literally means ‘swish-swish’. We find Nagomi in Menara Hap Seng a comfortable place to dine in. It has quite a classy interior, with a contemporary Japanese trend while incorporating a modern dine-in fashion. There were also well-partitioned areas for groups of friends, families or even business lunch meetings if they prefer some privacy.

Broths available were: Nagomi, Spicy & Chicken (for additional pot to try different flavours, it cost RM8)

We had Nagomi (their signature broth) of course, since we're in Nagomi :)

We were given the choice to try one of their sets. Chris and I settled down for their Ribeye Shabu Shabu set, which is priced at RM39. It is also available at RM21 (150g) via add on.

The set includes:

Ribeye - the Australian beauty best swished with the Nagomi broth.

Assorted Vegetables - Shiitake, Pumpkin, Leek, Bamboo shoots, Tofu and Cabbages. Choices of noodles or rice were also available to go with our set. The person in charge were kind enough to offer us another portion of noodles; so we had Udon and Shirataki noodle (Japanese glass noodle)

the accompaniment sauces:

Goma (ground sesame, soy sauce, kelp stock, sakae and sugar), Chili and Ponzu (soy sauce and juice pressed from a bitter orange, sweet sake and kelp).

We saw an eye-catching poster upon entering the outlet that reads: Bento Lunch - RM14.90++

Chris opted for the Chicken Teriyaki Set since he is craving for the glaze of teriyaki again. The chicken and tofu was satisfactory, but I adore the salad especially. Very appetizing and flavoursome.

Too bad we have no more room for desserts. Did not manage to indulge in some healthy natural goodness from Dessert's Bar (also their sister company).

Oxford in One Day

Ever thought of traveling through and see more of Oxford in just one day?
This was exactly what we did during our stay in London.

Oxford is also known as the city of intellect and it has always been a student's dream (let it be under or postgraduates) to qualify into the academic arena of Oxford intellectual square. Fame and recognition, the harmonious architecture of Oxford's university buildings have earned this metropolis "City of Dreaming Spires".


How to get there:

By car: the M40 motorway from the Midlands (Junction 9) or from London (Junction 8): from the Cotswolds (A40 or A44) or from the M4 (A420 or A34).

Parking in Oxford is limited so please use the free Park and Ride car parks to the north, south, east and west of the city. All operate Monday to Sunday except Water Eaton (not Sundays). The Pear Tree site serves evening visitors (buses until 23:15). All P&R buses take wheelchairs.

By bus: from Heathrow and Gatwick airports the Oxford Bus Company's airline operates a 24 hour service. Pre-booked airport transfers can be booked through taxi or hire car firms.

The National Express 737 service links Oxford to Luton and Stansted airports.

Two companies provide a 24/7 bus service to London: the Oxford Espress and the Oxford Tube.
We took the Oxford Tube from London Victoria. Buses are available every 10-15mins. (About 2 hours from London city center)

By train: Heathrow, Gatwick and Birmingham International airports are served by train to Oxford. There is a fast and frequent service from London Paddington

St. Michael's is also one of Oxford's cheapest attractions, with free admission to the church and cheap admission to the ancient tower with its fantastic views.
