Babylon Restaurant @ Jalan Jati, KL - RM25++ for 2 Course Set Lunch

Thanks to http://goodyfoodies.blogspot.com/, we've found ourselves another work luncheon spot to splurge on a Friday afternoon. What's exciting was when I realized that this particular spot was once Max@iHaus; a fine dining restaurant that was set up by Max, which have now moved to Solaris Dutamas. Check out our previous review HERE. The bungalow that haus international brand names in furniture, have ample parking space for patrons & a large garden is now Babylon.

Well, we are here for the affordable lunch set that Babylon has came up with (the lunch set is different everyday).
Having known that:
"RM25+ for 2-course set lunch (with a complimentary drink). Set lunch only available Monday to Friday"
Affordable dining experience in a posh restaurant with friendly staffs around was a great turnover after having bored by daily lunchboxes. Haha.

Choices of the 2-Course Set Lunch for the day:
Appetizers
Smoked Salmon Green Salad
Start off your course with some greens.

Creamy Wild Mushroom Soup
Smooth and creamy mushroom soup was tasty. However a tad salty in our opinion.

Victoria Rossa English Tea Room @ Hartamas Shopping Centre

During the times when we are running out of ideas when it comes to digging the right place for an afternoon session catchups, the brother came up with the perfect thought of High Tea.

Where to?
Hartamas he whispered. His buy this round. Whee....

Nope. Not San Terri Cottage Cafe this round. We adjourned to something more English……….
To be precise, an English Tea Room……

The Pink Sage Diner and Pantry @ Solaris Dutamas

After the big breakfast at Jarrod & Rawlins, the thought of having the next round of English breakfast for a change would be The Pink Sage. However, this plan has been on hold for quite sometime till an extent of forgetting all about it.
I was browsing through http://www.thepinksage.com/ one day and found their menu to be kinda limited. It did hold us back for a while but we still end up trying as this has been on the list for quite sometime which needed our attention. haha.

Pink Sage was designed principally to adapt comfortable. Incorporating ideas of american diners with longer length dimensions coffee table and comfy couch. Its interior was neat and nice to look at.

Bravo to Pink Sage, as we were seated, we were quickly introduced to their new selections of menu; with wider range of burgers, pastas, other main course and desserts.

The Haute Food Co @ Plaza Damas, Hartamas, K.L

You are fifteen going on sixteen + ten *hehe*
Fellows will fall in line
Eager young lads and rogues and cads
Will offer you food and wine...
*humming after Rolf & Lisle*

We recently celebrated our bestie's sweet 26 in a little cafe poured with warm decos, friendly staffs and a display counter filled with cakes & desserts waving gracefully at us. The Haute Food Co. was the venue for Citygal's birthday. An ideal place to relax and enjoy healthy light meals with your companions; a spot for tete-a-tete & catching up. A great compliment to the named 'fashionably elegant' which means haute, was the fresh ingredients that they used. You'll see why once you've tried and I believe many patrons have became their regulars now.

Their coffee is brewed from Genovese coffee beans, from Melbourne. Aromatic and smooth.

Huck's Cafe: a Private Kitchen @ Gasing Indah, PJ

It was a spontaneous 'YES' I answered when the besties Kampungboycitygal, AiWei & WenChing decided to throw a birthday celebration for Chris and I at a private kitchen.

Visiting a private kitchen has always been on our eat list for quite sometime but somehow fail to discover the nice ones. As an avid fan of TVB dramas, we've known that private kitchen is a unique type of eatery in Hong Kong. Typical one is based in an ordinary apartments, the capacity is usually less than 10 customers, with no prominent shop signs & advertising is usually by word of mouth from friends. Well thanks to Citygal, we get to know about Huck's Cafe at last.

Do bear in mind if you were to visit Huck's, RESERVATION IS A MUST as it's a home dining concept with limited seating capacities.

Huck's Cafe is nestled in the PJ neighbourhood, offering a three course meal with beverages included at RM68 nett per pax. Affordable and quality home-cooked food that all of us yearned for. Let's feast!

Refreshment:
We started off with the Basil Seed Mint Soda for a refreshing start.

IMG_1062

Starters:
Complementary Salad
A combination of mandarin oranges, rose apples (jambu air) & leafy greens. However, the flavours of the dressings could have tasted stronger.

Exploring the relaxing lifestyles of the locals at Ambleside is a true wonder. Strolling around at a slow pace; sitting under a tree eating pastry and sipping coffee. After another long walk, got tired after many sight-seeings and souvenir shopping, we popped by a cafe to settle down at Lucy's on a Plate located on Church Street.

VI Concept Bar & Restaurant @ Bandar Puteri Puchong

Do you love an open, low-built, fast motor car?

A Ferrari.
Everyone wants one.
I love the spartan or luxurious touch of it.
Would you love to date a Ferrari for dinner maybe?

Day 2 Windermere, Cumbria: Bowness-on-Windermere & Ambleside

Continuing from Day 1: Exploring Windermere town and settled for a comfy B&B......

After a satisfying local homemade English breakfast, we decided to head towards Bowness-on-Windermere: Lakeland's most popular holiday resort; a tourist town which is quoted as an excellent centre for boating activities.
We decided not to drive and took the long walk, passing by Bowness Bay and adjourn to the pier as we're gonna cross England's largest lake to a town called Ambleside!

WindermereMap

Most attractions could be viewed here.

Fyi, Windermere is situated above and away from the lake of about 1 mile/1.5km while Bowness-on-Windermere being the main tourist centre on the lake.

We walked for miles, but the word tired did not seem to appear in the dictionary as we're distracted by beautiful routes, picturesque surroundings and of course, the prefect cooling climate.

Adventurous route begins here!

Windermere, Lake District @ Cumbria, England - 2 days 1 night

It's about time again we continue to share our travel tales from the west.
Beautiful tales from the countryside this time.

The Lake District, a mountainous region located in the North West of England. Very famous for its lakes and its mountains, it has became a popular holiday destination; for those who seek tranquility and peace especially. Right here at Lake District, nestled the National Park and it also contains the deepest and longest lakes in England. Lake Windermere is one of them & it is the largest natural lake in England, and is fed by numerous rivers.

A glimpse of our 2 days 1 night stay at Windermere, Cumbria.
Another spontaneous trip it was. We depended solely on the GPS we've got after renting a car. Without booking any hotels/ shelters. Exciting!

It took us about 3 hours to reach Windermere from Glasgow with coffee break stops at Carlisle and other districts, overwhelmed with 'ooo-s and ahh-s' of their picturesque landscape.

Breakfast @ Jarrod & Rawlins, Damansara Heights

Chris studied me hard while I was fiddling with my phone engaging on the game 'breakfast maker'. I was longing for a somewhat authentic English breakfast and he knows I missed it so much.

IMG_8533

After browsing through a few selections from net, he announced, "I bring you for a big breakfast tomorrow".
A sunny Saturday morning filled the air. Cooling weather surprisingly, we headed off to Jarrod & Rawlins.

Jarrod & Rawlins New Menu Relaunch @ Damansara Heights

Good news people!

The purveyors of fine food & wine will be launching their brand new set of menu this Friday; September 3rd!

From gourmet sausages, pies, burgers and sandwiches, Jarrod & Rawlins did a great job surprising our tastebuds. With an extended array of new dishes, they sure pleased us once again this time. Refer our previous post HERE.

What's new?

Toad in the Hole with Gravy
Sausages rested on a bed of Yorkshire pudding; the pastry that has a crispy crust, best garnished with yummy onion gravy.

Qba B4 Latin Bar & Grill @ Westin, Kuala Lumpur

Hey hey!

The weekend is hitting in again and we're so relieved thanks to the busy week we've been through......
Pamper and give yourself a break if you ever felt like you've just been through too much stress. I've always agree to that! An excuse without much guilt :)

Thanks to Ming & the Westin group, we and our makan soul-mates were given the chance to check out their new idea of B4 at QBA; the Latin Bar & Grill at the Westin hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

IMG_0957

What's B4? The question popped into our minds quickly.
It's actually an abbreviation for Beer+BBQ+Banda+Bandido (Beer, BBQ, Band & Buffet).
B4 is a decadent garden party fiesta on a Saturday evening within Qba’s al fresco courtyard. As the first restaurant which offers such relaxing al fresco buffet dining, you'll get to enjoy live cooking of Latin grill and infused with South American flavours with fresh ingredients.

Ambiance
Expect an exclusive looking bar with cigar lounge upon entering and as we move downstairs leading to the courtyard, there was another beautiful bar waiting for us with live band and what's more to expect from the extensive area laid with an immense selection of food.

Jaya ONE Food Crawl!

When so many bloggers were cordially invited to have a round of Food Crawl @ Jaya ONE, we were excited to participate as we've not tried any 'restaurant-hopping' at such a hype place.

IMG_9761
As you may know, Jaya ONE is one of the IN place for dining for most people. A variety of cuisines to choose from, it's almost a fuss to choose sometimes and truly speaking, Chris and I don't really remember what's there to try from too. Thanks to Ramesh and the Jaya ONE group for allowing us to venture around with an overwhelming appetite.

The Smokehouse @ Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru

I used to frequent Bangsar’s Telawi neighbourhood. And when we do, we would end up concealing ourselves with high tea or cafes without noticing the newcomer in town; or we would rather called it the hidden gem nestled at Jalan Telawi 3.

IMG_4709
If you plan to chill out in a homely English themed eatery, try the Smokehouse, an outlet that offers a mixture of Western, especially English & Thai cusine that will surely tantalize your tastebuds. Smokehouse serves a medley of delicious dishes throughout the day, from breakfast through to dinner! We were lucky enough to enjoy a hearty lunch cum lavish high tea with compliments from the manager, Dennis with our besties, AiWei & KampungboyCitygal.
Used to operate at the KL city centre, the Smokehouse is now moved to Bangsar Baru. Be sure to visit for a homely atmosphere.
Another praise: Their Thai chefs were previously with Rama V!

#1 Ambiance
Loving the aristocratic elements of this outlet while bringing out the vintage sentiment of the English epoch. Old school table and chairs, fireplace and decorative basics like the classic telephone & record player were some atmosphere enhancers.

Uncle Chilli's @ PJ Hilton

Hiding my face with my tiny hands while telling this:

Don't laugh at me.
I have not been to PJ Hilton.
Hold your laughter.
I've not been to Uncle Chilli's.
And I don't even know it was establish for quite sometime. Shoot!

The juicy bits: It has been refurbished into a modern retro hang-out venue merging exclusive dining and bar functions. Composing of private dining areas, bar, dance floor and also cigar lounge, patrons get to enjoy the best of both worlds. The place where u belong; quoted Uncle Chilli's.
