"Remember to Remember"

Treats for a Good Girl : Wagamama

The BF have persisted the tradition of a reward system.
State: To finish up the final year research dissertation of 9000 words.
Last Friday, BF kept his promise of a reward.

Reward for being a good girl.

1. I asked for Wagamama (2 for 1 on Main Meal deal was convincing).

2. I asked for nice pictures around the restaurant.

3. But I never expected to be surrounded by so many people around. We were this close.

4. Hungered for these and got treated with them.

5. Got indulged in the curry fares.

Chicken Katsu Curry - £8.05
Chicken fillet deep-fried in panko breadcrumbs, served with a lightly spiced curry sauce and sticky white rice. Garnished with a combination of mixed leaves and red pickles.

Ebi kare lomen - £8.75
A spicy soup made from lemongrass, coconut milk, shrimp paste, red chillies, fresh ginger and galangal. Served with ramen noodles and garnished with marinated grilled black tiger prawns, beansprouts, cucumber, fresh coriander and a wedge of lime.

6. to the BF: Thanks for making my day!

Wagamama’s 2 for 1 on Main Meal deal was given in collaboration with Men’s Health readers, valid till 5th April. Go get them HERE!

Wagamama, well-known for its fast-paced noodle bar, offers pan-asian inspired noodle and rice dishes in a sleek. Holding a concept of the minimalist designed restaurant, the canteen-style seating and open-plan kitchen idea drew many patrons in as they tend to churn out the informal atmosphere.

It’s best to book a place before dining in. We queued for about 10 minutes :P (since there were only 2 of us) and was seated in BETWEEN the crowd! How unsatisfying.
Food wise, the Chicken Katsu Curry was worth a try and memorable. Japanese curry was perfectly married to the crispy deep fried chicken.
Ebi kare lomen was kinda soggy although I thought the coconut based curry concoction was fragrant and tasty. But, prawns were tiny and only poor amount of ingredients were presented. Credits to its savoury tang only.
Green teas are free of charge, making up to a total bill of £8.75 for 2 people.

Brought up 2 SharE turns 2

Another year has gone rounding up 2 years of blogging.

Dearest readers & friends,

Hope we've brought heaps of delicious sharings to all of you.

Still more to come!!

2 years old is still very young :)

Glasgow's fares

Malaysian fares

Can't believe I've settled down in Glasgow for 9 months already. Less than 2 months to finals and days to being student-free is getting closer.
Sometimes, it's just weird.
Perhaps I'm not used to not studying anymore and have to behave professionally as a working adult...
Well, pursuing what I intend to start off with already incorporates the life-long learning process.

What's more to worry other than my 9000 words dissertation and the final exam in May?
So stress......
Wish me luck ;P

Brought up 2 SharE have went through the 4 seasons.
Here's some photos of Glasgow in 4 different seasons.
Other than food camwhoring, we just can't resist the amazing sceneries here.

It's been an amazing journey with food blogging besides getting to pamper ourselves with yummy fares. More to come and hope all of you have enjoyed visiting....

La Tasca @ Renfield Street

Savouring different types of cuisine is an ideal action to pursue.
From Scottish, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese to multiple types fares we’ve feasted our hunger on, exploring the vast field of gastronomy is one mission we love to undertake.
Spanish food is one of them.

Yes, we are first-timers at La Tasca, a Spanish Tapas restaurant and bar.
Finally we decided to turn our appetite to some tasty and fragrant Spanish tapas that emphasized their taste more on hints of saltiness and spiciness rather than dishes with sugary sensations.
Tapas are small Spanish savoury dishes served from selections of meat, seafood to vegetables. I took note on the word SMALL… but a variety of small dishes can load my tummy.

Moving first to the environment:
Most restaurants in Glasgow are relatively dark. End of story.
For La Tasca, it was dimly lit, with candles & ‘very yellow’ lightings. Adding to the yellow factor, orange walls… Bad for photography.

Btw, we’re entitled for a 50% off the food bill with their promotion voucher! Good deal eh?

Being a newbie to tapas, we decided to go for their Chef’s Selection of Tapas at £26.95 for 2 people. The portion is really stodgy and can accommodate our appetite really well. (After discount: £13.47)

Paella Valenciana – A Valencian style paella, with chicken and mixed seafood
We love this to bits. Flavoursome and I haven’t got enough of it as its portion was kinda mini. But we still consider the portion OK considering many other small dishes served. Too much of it would be uninteresting.

Alitas de Pollo – Marinated Chicken Wings
Not sure whether it was fried or grilled but they were tasty.

Cordero en Salsa – Lamb casserole
Stew lamb with gravy also served potatoes. We just wolfed down the lambs. Too much potato dishes already.

Albondigas a la Jardinera – Spanish-style meatballs served in tomato sauce
Hmm… Very soft and squashy texture

Berenjenas Gratinadas – Fresh aubergine topped with cheese and tomatoes
Aubergine is a purple egg-shaped fruit of a tropical plant resembling brinjals. Mistaken them as brinjals ;P

Ensalada de Espinacas y Aguacate – Spinach, avocado, cucumber & onion salad

Gambas Gabardina – Deep fried king prawns in their San Miguel batter
The prawns were fresh and kinda springy. Love dipping this flavoured deep fried large shrimps into their sourish cream topped with herbs.

Patatas Bravas – Fried potato topped with spicy tomato sauce
Wasn’t spicy at all. Just an appetizing serving of chopped carbs.

Licores de Frutas – A Liqueur for £2.85
Went for peach flavor and it tasted like Absolute…
We just need a drink in an environment like that. Haha..

Desserts, desserts! How could we forego?
Had an initial thought of ordering their chocolate fondue but we’re too full for that.
Instead, a simple order of Helado con Chocolate y Almendras – Organic vanilla ice cream served with Spanish chocolate and almonds gave some sweet endings to our dinner. Priced at £3.65 (discounted price: £1.82)
I just love simple vanilla semi-soft frozen dessert made with sweetened and flavoured milk fat.

Spicing up Monday blues

It's been so long since both of us really enjoyed a bowl of Malaysian noodles.
Nope.
You won't be able to find the genuine taste here.
It's another Monday again & hope these home-cooked noodles could help tidy up the Monday blue syndrome!

What Chris cooked to restore what we've been missing so long.

Curry Noodles with Crispy Fried Chicken

Being away from the Chili Pan Mee that I used to favourite isn't any pleasing either...
Our own version of Chili Ramen was an antidote!
The minced pork was flavoursome and the addition of crunchy anchovies boosted its tastiness. Most importantly, the egg have to be about 3/4 cooked. Add in the amount of chili u desire and mix 'em all up!

Not that I was being boastful, but these churned out delicious! Especially the Minced Pork Noodles with Chili Prawn :)

Psst.. remember to add in chili flakes for the extra oomph!

Amore Pizzeria & Ristorante @ Shuttle Street

Dear HueyShean,

Thanks for your accompaniment and the exciting idea of a lunch-out at AMORE…

ShuYin and I enjoyed the luscious Italian fares and the never-ending tittle-tattles!

Cheers to more girls day-out.

Yours truly,

Christine

AMORE is the word I used to exploit so much.
From old mails to classic nicknames in the ICQ,
I thought it still stand out as a single distinct meaningful word.

AMORE in Glasgow is an Italian restaurant with the amorous ambiance and romantic interior. Decorated with white teddies, champagne and wines on wooden shelves, with faint yellow illumination. Staffs looked and sounded like Italian, and service was efficient too.
Also a pizzeria, offering a variety of Italian pizza with different toppings.

I started with a cuppa Hot Chocolate for £1.95.

And… complimentary Bruschetta-like servings of appetizing breads with toppings.

We went for their Lunch Time Special (2 courses) for £5.95.
A great deal no doubt.
You can also opt for their ala carte menu for lunch and it seems that they have a different menu for dinner as well – more options of pizzas and pastas to meet your cravings.

Starters:
Zuppa del Giorno
Chef’s soup of the day served with crispy bread for dipping: Tomato soup garnished with black pepper.

Funghetti Fritti
Deep fried mushroom served with salad & garlic mayonnaise.
Piping hot crispy balls of mushroom was fragrant and an ideal match with the garlic mayonnaise dipping.

Main course:
Carbonara lovers just won’t wanna miss out this white sauce plateful of solid strings pastas!
Spaghetti Carbonara
Cooked with strips of succulent bacons, garlic, white wine, black pepper, egg yolk & cream. Remember to add in some cheese :)
Very filling indeed.

Other selections of pizzas and pastas are also available in their lunch set menu. Game for an Italian lunch with the reasonable price? Remember to consider AMORE.
