Pla dib @ The Heritage Village, Seri Kembangan

"Thai fusion or confusion? You decide!"

This popped into our mind ever since we've read a review from the Star on pla dib. On the first glance of the pictures, I've mistaken it for some new Japanese cuisine around town. What's more it's in Seri Kembangan; which is just around the corner for us!

Without much hesitation, we hit the heritage village in search for pla dib.
Pla dib, which means 'raw fish' in Thai has a modern interior. Laid down with a mixture of wooden furnitures with red sofas and elements that was not so 'Thai' :)
A casual ambiance, we wound say, surrounded by a 50-acre lake. You could also opt to enjoy your meal outdoors by the lake.

Funky Villa @ e@Curve, Mutiara Damansara, PJ

Funky Villa.

From its modern & stylish  name, have you ever thought of anything related to Thai?
Not us, this never crossed our mind.

A place filled with surprises we shall say, Funky Villa embraced a bistro/ bar-like dining concept, portraying a hype of youth atmosphere. Decorated with typical Thai restaurant settings or decos? No.
Colourful mural at the bar counter, displayed with a giant screen that hums Thai melody, matching wall lightings that entirely brought out the happening atmosphere.

Jaya ONE Food Crawl!

When so many bloggers were cordially invited to have a round of Food Crawl @ Jaya ONE, we were excited to participate as we've not tried any 'restaurant-hopping' at such a hype place.

As you may know, Jaya ONE is one of the IN place for dining for most people. A variety of cuisines to choose from, it's almost a fuss to choose sometimes and truly speaking, Chris and I don't really remember what's there to try from too. Thanks to Ramesh and the Jaya ONE group for allowing us to venture around with an overwhelming appetite.

The Smokehouse @ Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru

I used to frequent Bangsar’s Telawi neighbourhood. And when we do, we would end up concealing ourselves with high tea or cafes without noticing the newcomer in town; or we would rather called it the hidden gem nestled at Jalan Telawi 3.

If you plan to chill out in a homely English themed eatery, try the Smokehouse, an outlet that offers a mixture of Western, especially English & Thai cusine that will surely tantalize your tastebuds. Smokehouse serves a medley of delicious dishes throughout the day, from breakfast through to dinner! We were lucky enough to enjoy a hearty lunch cum lavish high tea with compliments from the manager, Dennis with our besties, AiWei & KampungboyCitygal.
Used to operate at the KL city centre, the Smokehouse is now moved to Bangsar Baru. Be sure to visit for a homely atmosphere.
Another praise: Their Thai chefs were previously with Rama V!

#1 Ambiance
Loving the aristocratic elements of this outlet while bringing out the vintage sentiment of the English epoch. Old school table and chairs, fireplace and decorative basics like the classic telephone & record player were some atmosphere enhancers.

A Wet Thai Café @ Cheras, KL

Tucked away in one of the chief corners famous for food discovery in Cheras, A Wet Thai Café is one Thai eatery worth stopping over to comfort your hungry desire for some hot & spicy dishes of undisputed origin. It is located just a few shops away from another well-known Chinese restaurant known as Hau Kee.

It was very thoughtful of AiWei to suggest the right spot for a Thai feast as we bid farewell to the Sugar who flew back to her UK dwelling last month.

What we love about Thai food besides the cravings for tom yum on and off was the hot & spicy essence and its balance of five fundamental flavors in each dish. Appetizing and flavoursome.

We started off with an order of Miang Kam -RM 12. It was one of Chris's and Citygal's favourite. What's so particular about this traditional snack? Using the fresh cha plu leaves, fold it into a cone-like shape and fill in the ingredients like
some roasted coconut shavings, purple onion, fresh red or green chilli pepper, ginger, lime with its peel and roasted peanuts. After filling the leaf, a little coconut palm syrup containing Thai fish sauce is poured on top. The leaf is then folded and eaten whole.
