Prologue:
Christine falls to her knees and raises her hands to the heavens above. "Must... have... pork ribs", she gasps. "Must... have it... immediately!". Chris then rolls his eyes. "Dear, I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again - your diet is appalling."
Chris sometimes would just give in to whatever I craved for. Well thanks to him for the continuous healthy diet reminder or else I would just have to trash my cute size 4 wardrobe and replace them all with baggy garments.
It was a coincidental bliss when we were invited by Elaine from the Grey Two PR to attend a special sampling session with fellow bloggers KampungboyCitygal, AiWei, thenomadGourmand & Fat Boy Bakes at Jarrod & Rawlins located at Damansara Heights.
Jarrod & Rawlins had establish a widespread idea to patrons of it being the purveyors of fine food & wine. True enough, their menus offer combinations of their very own J&R classics such as the famous gourmet sausages, pies, burgers and sandwiches. We personally love the concept of the available decked out delicatessen counters (deli counters) arranged with meats, sausages & assorted cheeses. Deal out your favourite selection of protein source from the deli and the friendly staffs will weigh 'em accordingly.
We were more than delighted to sample their extensive selections of appetizers and main courses from their menu and most of them are new.
Allow us to introduce:
Appetizers:
- Smoked Duck Salad * - RM26
- Calamari Salad * - RM18
- Smoked Salmon & Avocado Panini * - RM24
- Salami, Serrano Ham, Lettuce & Tomato Ciabatta * (Custom-made*)
- Roast Pork (Priced by weight at Deli counter **)
- Organic Chicken Liver Paté (made with Sherry & Cognac) RM19.50
Smoked Duck Salad was Chris's favourite. It was his turn to get down on his knees and raises his hands to the heavens above for more of these. Great meat texture and garden fresh salads to go with it was definitely a darling appetizer to start off.
Calamari Salad has my vote. The calamari was springy and with a hint of spiciness, it gave extra boost to the overall dressing of this salad.
Smoked Salmon and Avocado Panini was our least favourite appetizer sadly. I love avocado when it's not eaten together with smoked salmon. We personally prefer our salmon either raw or cooked, but not smoked. This combination generated a sourish taste that we don't really adore.
Salami, Serrano Ham, Lettuce & Tomato Ciabatta - every bite we hummed yum. Thinly sliced salami and serrano ham fitted just right in every bite we took. And having ciabatta is just so healthy! Maybe I should drive down to J&R to have this for Friday's lunch rather than sinking my teeth onto some double cheeseburger from McD's drive-thru. Ahh... Wise decision made.
Roast Pork a.k.a Siew Yoke. Ok I must admit that it's my first time having siew yoke in such a posh restaurant. They just tasted... yummier and... classier!
Main Courses:
- Pork Cumberland & Dynamite Sausage (Served with Mashed Potato & Gravy **) - Priced by weight at Deli counter**
- Alaskan Seabass served with side salad - RM16 /100 grams**
- Serrano Ham & Bacon Pasta with Dried Chili & Olive Oil - RM32
- Hickory Baby-Back Ribs - RM12 /100 grams**
- T-Bone Steak (discontinued)
Pork Cumberland reminded us of our happy UK days. Sitting cosily in an English guesthouse, with 2 fat pork Cumberland sausages in each of our English breakfast set. Sampling the similar taste again brought back great memories. Pork Cumberland sausages was our favourite fare on a breakfast plate. This curled up sausage was presented creatively before us.
I thought it resembled a snail with another Dynamite Sausage lurking behind. The Dynamite Sausage was truly a bomb! First encounter with a sausage hidden with explosive (chili padi to be precise). Every bite was a 'kick'!
Alaskan Seabass - a serving rich in Omega-3 fats. It was juicy, smooth and compact. We enjoyed the light saltiness taste of it.
Serrano Ham & Bacon Pasta with Dried Chili & Olive Oil tasted a lil' spicy and sourish. One of the most ordered dish at J&R, this pasta serving suited our Malaysian tastebuds.
Hickory Baby-Back Ribs was the one I begged for more. Only manage to finish half of it as it was the last dish served. Still thought that I could finish a rack if they were served earlier. Gosh.I must be a carnivor in my past life. We love their hint of charred essence and tasty meat.
What's that huge slab of meat called? It's non-other than the huge T-Bone Steak. I am 100% sure that I couldn't finish it all by myself. Unfortunately, so sorry to announce that it has been discontinued for now.
Others:
- Assorted Cheese Platter (Select at Deli counter)
From plain cheese, smoked cheese to blue cheese, feel free to select your favourite from the deli counter and enjoy them all together with some crackers.
Desserts
- Cheese &; Chocolate Cake - RM14.50 /slice
- Death by Chocolate - RM14.50 /slice

My impression of J&R is that they sell only gourmet sausages, cuts of pork, and wine.
Never knew bout the other dishes.
good intro, and the black surface of the tables provided a good background for the food shots.
