Munakata Unlimited Ala Carte Japanese Buffet @ Jalan Sultan Ismail

Updated:

Munakata @ KL1

Does these succeed in initiating your desire to dine in here?
You'll be surprise actually if you say YES.

We shall start off with the delicious ones first, slowly tapering it's delectable standings down.

Oishii! おいしい  D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S

Salmon Sashimi – thickly cut, fresh and they'll melt in your mouth. We had 27 servings of these  with 1 serving of 3 pieces.  So now you know how good they are. Worth trying.

Gyu Saikoro Steak- juicy and tender are the words to describe them.

IMG_7853

Unagi Kabayaki - sweet tangy sauce on Chris's fave order. Yum.

IMG_7854

Salmon Teriyaki – the meat fat fat and juicy, paired up with its crispy skin. I enjoyed this very much after their sashimi version.

IMG_7869

Enoki No Butter Yaki- sauteed with butter, this serving was fragrant. I love funghis!

Grilled Chicken

Kaki Furai - Chris and I don't take fresh oysters. Know its a waste. But we manage to feast on some deep  crispy fried oysters and love the crispiness of their coating.

IMG_7888

Shira Ebi Karaage (deep fried Japanese Glass Shrimp) - Some great nibbles while chatting.

IMG_7924

Tori Tsukune Yaki – these chicken meatballs surprised us. Didn't thought that this could impress our appetite at all. Thanks to its flavoursome teriyaki sauce and piping hot meat.

IMG_7932

Heiheibonbontaru  へいへいぼんぼんたる M.E.D.I.O.C.R.E

Furai Ika Ring (deep fried squid rings) – the batter was too thick, however the squid was chewy. Would prefer them without their thick outer coating.

IMG_7898

Hotate Butter Yaki – Fresh and sweet tasting scallops. They would be perfect minus the excessive oil and thick outer coating.

IMG_7880

Tempura Moriawase - I would never say no when it comes to tempura but this serving made us kinda sick. Perhaps they were too oily. Oh no.

IMG_7928

Nigri (Salmon) Sushi - No complains on the salmon but the rice was too dry. This brought down its overall score for sushi servings.

IMG_7905

Shisamo - Chris must order portion. He claimed he had better ones at Kampachi and Rakuzen.

IMG_7877

Soft Shell Crabs - Complaint of oiliness once again, but better than tempura moriawase.

IMG_7860

Edamame

IMG_7866

Wakame Salad

Chawanmushi - silky smooth? Kinda :)

Oishikunai (the opposite of Oishii) Sigh...

Munakata @ KL

1. Sake Teriyaki (mackerel) wasvery drywith strong fishy smell.
2. Age Shu-Mai - skin too thick with little fillings.
3. Agedashi Tofu (deep fried bean curd with thick starchy sauce) - the sauce was way too thick, like glue.

4.  Unagi Tamago was a tad too sweet for our palatte.
5. Tori no karagee (deep fried chicken) were somehow burnt and doesn't look inviting at all.
6. First-ever-weird-tasted-Green tea ice cream. Bad. Tasted artificial...

well, to some extent.. my stomach is growling but I remember that apart from the sake (salmon), they don't have other sashimi which include my favourite maguro (tuna)...

Wah, that's a lot of food. Looks like pretty good value too. Wonder if there are any restrictions on the menu?

Rebecca Saw January 27, 2010 at 11:40 PM

yup..had it back in Nov. I agree that the salmon is good but the rest were jz so-so. However, fro RM60 its stil a steal, and service was attentive no?

Choices were limited and the vanilla ice cream was bad too, if u think the green tea is bad hahaha...
