Continued from Bali Day 2......
After pampering ourselves with a great stay at Tegal Sari, we were thrilled to carry on our third day plan!
A summary of our Day 3 itinerary:
#1 Babi Guling @ Ibu Oka
Even after our Banana Pancake breakfast at the villa, we decided to head over to Ibu Oka's Ubud branch for another round of late breakfast. We were there early as they open at around 11am & we waited patiently for the arrival of the huge Babi Guling.
Babi Guling Special (IDR25,000/ RM9.20). Love the meat texture with layers of lean and fat, but its skin (kulit) was kinda hard instead of crispy.
Crispy Pork Skin Snacks
#2 Shopping & sight seeing @ Pasar Ubud
Pasar Ubud is only a walkway distance from Ibu Oka. Before our main shopping plan at Sukawati on Day 4, Pasar Ubud was sort of a warm up although the ole-ole (souvenirs) available were not as cheap as Sukawati's.
Just remember to BARGAIN :)
#3 Pura Taman Ayun, Mengwi
Known as the Garden Temple in the Water, this beautiful structure stands on an island in a river. Lucky us, the heavy rain stopped in time for us to pose for longer times out in the breezy & cool weather.

#4 Coffee Tasting at Kopi Luwak @ Yoga Plantation
A young luwak (civet cat)
The owner of Yoga Plantation was really friendly and shared his interesting experiences with us while we were sampling his different types of coffees and teas after a small tour with him around his plantation grounds.
The famous Kopi Luwak at IDR 30,000/ RM11 only!
As you may know, Kopi Luwak is attributed from the active civet cats that climb from tree to tree looking for the best (ripest, reddest coffee cherries), sourcing out as luwak scats (droppings).
#5 Pura Ulun Danu @ Bratan Lake, Bedugul
Another water temple located on the shores of Danau Bratan or Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul, the temple has a greater view compared to Pura Taman Ayun. Scenic and breathtaking views great for non-stop camwhoring.
#6 Sunset @ Tanah Lot
After missing the sun set view at Uluwatu, the desire to watch sunset at Tanah Lot grew stronger. From Bedugul, it took us a few hours to get to Tanah Lot but it was worth the ride.
#7 Duck Feast at Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Diner’s)
We were seated in the chalet of our own, surrounded by fields accompanied by resonance of the night creatures & very dimly lit environment.
Balinese Smoked Duck (IDR185,000/ RM65.20) - must call to order a day in advance.
Claimed that this is a portion for 2, this set actually comes in a huge portion which we find quite affordable. Half a duck, with skewers of tasty satays drenched with tasty peanut sauce, long beans, a bowl of mixed salad, white rice & 2 fruit punch. The duck's meat was really tender and soft. Dip some into the sweet and sour shallot and chili, it'll be more appetizing!
It's so crispy that you can even munch on its bones!
However the portion was kinda small.

You can find kopi luwak only for Rp. 30.000??? Seriously??? The cheapest one here in Jakarta costs Rp. 80.000 and it's served in a very tiny cup since it's so famous as the most expensive coffee in the world.
my oh my, very nice photos lar!
and i love the shot of citigal carrying the umbrella for kampungboy. it's super cute lar!!! sweet
Very nice series of Bali photos :) Like it so much....
Oh you had kopi luwak! How was the taste? How was it different from the normal coffee? LOL!
Gorgeous!
Both the scenery & the FOOD!!!
;p
Nice pictures there :D Looking forward to more posts~
that was what I missed while vacationing in Bali last time... babi guling :(
while in Bali, normally I would ask Jenn to bargain on my behalf... what to do? I think that the females are better negotiator that the males :P
so much of camwhoring ya... :)
Yes, I do agree with Selba on this one. Rp30,000 can't possibly get you a kopi luwak, right?
Anyway, the babi guling is NOT the typical suckling pigs, like those served during dinners here in Msia.
Hence it's thicker, not as crispy, but the meat is almost like the young ones', very 'sou' (milky?) and infused with spices well.
i missed the babi guling at Ubud due to time restriction. :(
aiii..
so many ppl been talking bout babi buling in indo..
i must go eat on my next trip d!
