IMU Carnival & Charity Run 2007

Held in conjunction with International Medical University's 15th anniversary celebrations, my uni had came out with an event of the year.. The Charity Run cum Carnival! This event with the aim to raise RM50,000 to aid 3 beneficiaries:

1. St. Jerome children's home
2. Rumah Shalom children's home
3. Kampung Orang Asli Serendah

The IMU Carnival was from 8am onwards and all the way till 4 pm. With performances by Dina (Malaysian Idol runner-up) and other local bands, a food fair with lots of scrumptious food, haunted house, kids' corner and games galore... this social occasion was a happening one!

Needless to say... let me show you some of the visual attractions!

Let's take a stroll outdoor and see what stalls did my IMU friends, lecturers and staffs have set up!

One of the relish food available. The Maggi Pizza!! Have not had those.. have not even heard of it! 1 for RM1.50 :) Tasty... with the mayonnaise and chili sauce topping!

Was walking and taking pictures... until I saw the cupcakes! An appealing and sweetness underlying them... RM2 for 1. Bought the chocolate cupcake instead of vanilla as Chris requested :) It lay beautifully until the time to taste has come... Oh dear! Toooo Sweeeet! Chris claimed.. I was reluctant even to take a bite then. Love the sweet sensations of cupcakes but that was just too much!

We caught up with our Dean of Pharmacy School and took a picture with him.. Not used to seeing him wearing a sporty and casual attire as he's always equipped smartly in his suit!



It was kinda fun and peculiar witnessing our dear lecturers cook especially! Mr. Mudassir was conducting a workshop for one of his Pakistan dish : the Gulab Jamuan.

They looked sweetening to me.. but it tasted great! A good one!

As for my tutor, Dr Ignacio, he carried out and showed of his culinary skills really well. One of his specialty : the Torttila de Pattata. (em.. did I spell it right?) Guessed it's one of his Spanish dish. The aroma exerted almost filled up the entire cafeteria! Didn't try though.. Really afraid that my sorethroat will relapse as I've just recovered. So, precautions.. precautions :P

The event was a successful one, attracting people from the public as well, including the young and old! Everyone had mingled! Guessed the authorities and committees have reached the aim and target that they desired to... Enable people to have fun and at the same time.. contribute to the society!
Enjoyed myself of course!

K3K Kopitiam @ Damansara Perdana

It's been 3 months!

3 months without any serious shopping.

Kinda surprise me greatly for not doing any purchases of wardrobe materials and accessories (more than necessary shopping) during the sales season.. which had been prolonged in conjunction with the Merdeka Sale.. That's a good sign isn't it?

Learning to save is wise...
Saving is practical and realistic....
But not when I'm with my 2 girlfriends!!

We drove all the way to Damansara Perdana to look out for boutiques and we spent almost half the day hanging out at Cats Whiskers! Actually... we're accompanied by Chris, who is so willing so drive us there! Thanks dear! He even helped us out... picked our dress, giving opinions from a guy's point of view. So afraid that he's bored and find our doings uninteresting, but it turned out fine I guess. Helped Yen to pick a lustrous and compatible dress for her uni prom too.. We didn't go home empty ended of course..

Though I'm still not 100% well, but taking antibiotics alone will not put me back to a desirable condition. An additional of retail therapy will do the rest!! *smiles*

We had lunch at a nearby eatery. I've not dine in any of the eateries in this area before so we decided to drive around to have a look... Finally we ended up having lunch at the K3K Kopitiam. I must say that the restaurant revealed an undisputed origin of a typical kopitiam in those days. Furnished with a fusion of the olden and a lil' modern interior, they offer a comfy environment for their customers and portrayed a definite Chinese flavour of its own.

Yen just can't bear with us while AiWei and I were taking pictures.. Maybe she's way too hungry. *giggle* We stopped her from eating first as we have to capture some nice shots of her Pineapple Fried Rice :P An aromatic fried rice with the distinctive taste of pineapple's sweet and sourish flavour. This for RM5.80.

As for AiWei, she choses to have their specialty instead. The K3K Special Noodle for RM6.80. It's a combination of spaghetti and chinese secret spicy chilli paste, accompanied with slices of trio peppers, carrot, onion, cuttlefish, prawn and spinach. My dear friend had a warm approval of their sauce.. the secret spicy chilli paste. Wonder what's behind the secret! ;) However, the noodles tasted somehow bland.. maybe the sauce was not well mixed with the noodles and they have not blend in enough with them.

Chris had the Pattaya Fried Rice for RM5.80 as well. A rather common dish.. but it somehow surprised us as it's served in a bed of tomato sauce! Rather unique though.. The usual Pattaya rice that I've had was in a drier version. Tasted not bad at all... but I'm not a craver in having excessive gravy!



I had something plain. Plain yet tasty. With a pleasant odour of sesame oil. The Chicken Porridge for RM4.80 was my choice for the day. Thought that Chris added too much pepper for me, mildly indecent for my throat's condition :P

Another order of Bali Lemon before heading for another retail therapy session would be appropriate! Priced at RM2.50.

Didn't know that they're famous for toasts until I was informed by AiWei saying that she saw a program recommending their specialties and especially toasts on TV!
So.. dear readers.. do try out their toasts when stopping by K3K and tell me how is it then :)

I have a terrible flu... a bad throat.

I have not recovered, it worsened :(

Invasion of microorganism down my throat have led my voice into a deep and husky sound.

Worst of all, battling towards the healing process have caused an extra unfavourable circumstances....

Whooping Cough!!

Sitting for the test today was almost unbearable. The deadly, silent exam hall was awaken by my consequent coughing and my level of concentration and confidence had declined markedly.

But after looking at what I had for dessert last week after Marco's Pizza, the scale of pleasure and contentment abruptly rises sky high!

Chocolicious Sundae with Fresh Strawberries!!!

Chris pampered me again with this fresh, pure and untainted dessert available at Delicious by Ms. Read while we were in 1 Utama :) Give me a scoop of this and the inflammation plus tiredness caused will vanish right this instance! *cough cough cough!* Oops... on second thought, better wait till I recover 100% first!

For RM12.90, you'll get to enjoy this sweet sensation of fresh strawberries flowing over the brim of the tall glass, scoops of vanilla ice cream trickled excessively with hot chocolate fudge, spread with crushed chocolate cookies beneath and also scattered roasted almond at the top!! A sinfully delightful sweet characteristics found at Delicious!!

I've been wanting to try out other variety of desserts available here too! Heard from AiWei they offer good cakes at reasonable price :P

Satisfying Weekend with Marco's Pizza@ PJ

Happy 50th birthday to my dear Malaysia!

Finally touching half a century of Independence, which is worth a celebration! A country that offers comfort, variety of food and places to spend time socially no doubt!
I went to the Putrajaya Convention centre last night on the Merdeke Eve, to join in the countdown celebration and marked the independence day with so full of enthusiasm and excitement!... as there was the musical fireworks from Team Japan!!! More sharings later then! The atmosphere was just filling up with sophistication and "wow-ness".

I hope everyone is enjoying their 3 days day-off and it's weekend!

I didn't wonder anywhere despite the holiday. Just have to finish up revisions for another test next week! and worst of all, nasal congestion made me tiring and sleepy. Darn! There's even some tingling sensation down my thoart!

Last week, as Chris promised, he brought me to have lunch at Marco's Pizza. Located opposite the Kelana Jaya LRT station, we've always got captivated by the giant signboard displayed while we're on our way to 1 Utama. This time, Chris suggested that we should make a stop for food here! It's quite difficult for us to get a parking space around. Well after about 15 minutes, finally we managed to. This is quite a big outlet with different degree of ambience, I must say. There's corners for kids, decorated walls with cute cartoon paintings, as well as spaces that compromised with contented interior and lightings that layout to the front door.

For starters, we had their Wild Mushroom Soup scented with grape seed oil. For RM8.00, you'll get to taste the creamy and thick soup! Accompanied with extensive aroma and taste, a spoonful with just have its aroma penetrate your nostrils right away while covering with these soups in your mouth! I love it absolutely... but also thought that the mushroom soup that Precious Pea had at Max Kitchen would be extra tempting!

Not to forget the drinks, as usual Chris ordered the Iced Lemon Tea for RM4.50. Strong lemon sensation just boost my vitamin C level higher! *smiles* which I need it badly right now!

And... here comes our main course orders! Initially I plan to try on their pizza as well as pastas, but after asking how many they would serve for the regular portion they said 8 pieces! I thought that we can't finish them all, so I'd rather have their pizza... what they are famous for. However, Chris insisted that we have them both since he knew I love pastas! Then... ok for sure!!

We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, a traditional creamy pasta with beef bacon, garlic, egg & parmesan cheese! Oh.. this was appetizingly delicious for sure!! As what had been mentioned, creamy and tasty! This for RM 18.80.

Have a look! Served hot and this gain an extra credit to its taste!

Our order of Marco's Pizza was served while we're busy having our creamy carbonara. This is Marco's signature pizza with shredded turkey ham, country chicken egg, mozzarella cheese and plum tomato sauce. I requested for the thin crust version as I've not have any before. All the while, was eating the thick crust that Pizza Hut offered! Although I'm not a typical pizza lover, I still managed to eat 4 pieces! Chris sapu the rest! haha! Whoa.... the crunchy crust and the hot, delicious toppings left me drifted with pleasant thoughts! RM16.80 for a regular pizza was indeed a reasonable price for sure :) *claps claps to Marco's*

The workers were busy cooking the pizza in the open oven. Traditionally methodology prepared pizza is the best!!!

Yea. We loved it absolutely! They had built quite a high reputation in the media world.

Girls Lunch-Out at Old Town White Coffee

I missed their companies! I missed the laughter shared and "girls gossips" with them! They are no other than my soul mates ~ Yen and AiWei :) We met up for another lunch hang-out at Jusco Cheras Selatan. I meet AiWei up while she's busy strolling and eyeing on the shoes at Vincci. As usual... Yen, the princess is late, although actually she was already there with her mom. Ai Wei and I walked from one end to the other corner of the mall figuring out what should we eat :(
Almost end up in the Orchid Bistro but since there are not many customers dining in, there goes our desire to try it out. After Yen arrived, we headed to the Old Town White Coffee restaurant since AiWei and I have not tried on their main dishes yet :)



For drinks, Yen and I had the Honey Lemon Juice. She opted for the hot juice while I needed something chilling to quench my thirst. So I ordered the cold version. Love honey and lemon. Just so compatible!

The Cold Honey Lemon Juice was hydrating! RM3.20 per glass.

AiWei had something different, the White Coffee Gao for RM2.80

Since Yen had already taken her lunch... hey, I thought we're suppose to have it together! She just watched us have our delish meals. I'm recommended by Yen on the restaurant's nasi lemak. They offer one with Rendang Chicken and another special version. Both tempted me lots!
Well, I had the Nasi Lemak Special instead as I wanted to know how special it can turn out to be... This portion for RM5.8o.



It really turn out to be special after all and I fell in love with their sambal right away. The taste of excitement! hehe.. It's served with a piece of fried chicken and I thought it tasted like the KFC! Still delicious no doubt :)

For AiWei, she had something light... since she had something back home, an order of a Tuna Toast seems appropriate. Tuna fillings with veges were delicate, at the price of RM3.50.

Though we have gone our separate ways, even further from each other next year! *sob* We just can't stop it, can't we? Another 'musketeer' is heading home soon.. till then, we shall have more hang-outs and food blogging... and after my coming test! Oh dear...
